We had such a wonderful time! First of all the area is lovely!! Quiet and beautiful. The host is super nice and responds quickly to any questions. The cabin is super clean!! You'd never guess the cabin is pet friendly and had any animals ever staying here!! The cabin is 6 minutes walk to the campground with beautiful hiking trails, an off leash fenced in dog park, kids park and a small man made beach, tennis club and golf club. 13 minute walk to the grocery store and pharmacy. The pharmacy also includes an LC if you run out of wine. 19 min walk to a school park. The locals in Birtle are super friendly and welcoming. Secondly the cabin is stocked with ANYTHING you may need.....for cooking and eating, including a coffee grinder, crockpot, blender, lots of pots and pans, cast iron pan, block of knives, steak knives, spices, martini shaker, wine glasses, coffee travel mug, ice trays and ice bucket, can opener, salad bowls, tongs, cheese graters, even has a few pieces of Tupperware if you have leftovers, whisks, cutting boards, spatulas, bbq utensils, tea, kettle, coffee maker, ground coffee, coffee filters, Keurig, kirkland Keurig cups and even a reusable Keurig cup if you want to bring your own coffee! Fully stocked with dishcloths, dishtowels, paper towels, paper napkins, dishsoap, sponges and dish scrubbies, Kleenex, any possible cleaning supplies you may need and garbage bags. Bathroom is stocked with toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, hair dryer, qtips, cotton balls, tampons, etc etc just in case you forget something! The cabin has lots and lots soft luxurious giant bath towels, hand towels and facecloths. The bed is extremely comfortable and the host includes pillows, sheets and several blankets. Thirdly, cabin is stocked for a rainy day with 2 TVs, including a 50" in the living room, movies for all ages, books to read, kids books for bedtime, puzzles and coloring books (under the lid of the coffee table), satellite tv, wifi (very reliable, in 6 days never had any problems) and a beautiful view from a partially covered deck furnished with patio chairs and table. One rainy evening, I sat outside cuddled in a warm blanket sipping my wine watching the sunset and didnt get wet. I was in heaven! On sunny days if you don't want to go anywhere, theres a screened in gazebo with patio chairs, coffee table and patio couch, large bbq with tank and fire pit and comfortable chairs. If you're here in the summer you can walk 6 min to the campground and buy firewood, if its after september long weekend bring your own firewood. In the bedroom is an apartment sized washer and dryer, laundry soap, dryer sheets, ironing board, iron and alarm clock. I guess to accommodate travelling business people. Honestly the only thing you need to bring is your food, clothes, parchment paper (if you use it....I find it easier to clean up pans with parchment paper), and your own water if you're not crazy about country water. It's super cool that the owner of the cabin also owns a camper on the property beside the cabin, the camper sleeps 6 and the cabin sleeps 4, so a large family could rent both cabin and camper and bring their pets! The property is not fenced in, so bring a rope if your dogs like to roam and wont stay in an unfenced yard. Funny enough, I didnt see one single wasp, a few flies (but the host has also provided 2 eco frindly fly traps on the property), and I only saw maybe 10 mosquitoes over 6 days (I was pleasantly surprised at this as we are 20 feet away from the river). Overall....this cabin gets 6 out of 5 stars!!! We will be back next year!!
